Security & Policing 2024

Farnborough 12 March 2024

Security & Policing

Security & Policing (S&P) is where innovation & partnership meet. Hosted by JSaRC at Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre, it is the Home Office’s annual exhibition and conference which provides the opportunity to demonstrate world leading UK security capabilities and strengthen the Home Office’s relationships with our international partners.

This year’s event exceeded expectations by attracting over 7,000 attendees, 350+ exhibitors, 30 HMG and law enforcement departments and representation from 65 countries over the three days. The event was themed around Securing our Future Safety and Prosperity; Advancing National Security & Resilience; Policing Innovation and Protecting our People & Places. The aim was to provide innovative content, opportunities to network, key sector insights as well as high-level engagement and partnership opportunities between UK suppliers, academia, Government officials and senior decision makers across law enforcement and security from the UK and overseas.

Security & Policing boasted an extensive programme of keynotes and sessions led by senior UK Government officials, policing officials and industry speakers across three theatres – the Keynote Briefing theatre, Fusion Forum and Innovation Zone.

In-person addresses came from the Minister for Security, the Minister for Crime, Policing and Fire, Chief Constable – College of Policing CEO, and many more.

Following the success of the first ever Innovation Zone in 2023, the Security and Policing hub for science, innovation and technology was back with double the number of organisations to engage with and an exciting programme of speakers and activities. With briefings, panels, roundtables, networking sessions and more, the key government messages on science ambition and current and future challenges.

At Security & Policing 2024, we also wanted to highlight the Fire/First Response Zone at the event. This zone bought together professionals and capabilities in one dedicated area. Supported by the National Fire Chiefs Council and NFCC National Resilience, it showcased the development of Fire/First Response capabilities in the UK.

The Joint Security and Resilience Centre in collaboration with Industry again created an exciting hands-on in the Immersive Experience. This year’s immersive experience had a central theme of Transport Security and offered attendees the opportunity to undertake two experiences. Based at a large fictional transport hub, participants were alerted that there is a suspicious bag on board one of the trains.

On the final day, 10 students from John Madejski Academy attended the show. The students split into two groups to undertake the Immersive Experience, Destination: Churchill Station and engaged with various exhibitors; including Border Force, College of Policing, Detego Global, Wagtail & Evolve Dynamics. Career presentations were provided by Dame Julie Kenny & representatives from the NCA.

The visit was a huge success highlighting that prior to the visit the students did not know how many opportunities were available to them and how the security sector covers a wide range of jobs.
